CURRENT
& UPCOMING WORK PLAN
ALL 2018, 2019, 2020 & 2021 MOUNTS (except #6332) - completed. THE WORK PLAN The 2022 and 2023 work have been added to this page. As you can see, I am reducing the backlog and taking in far fewer mounts in 2023.I have now completed all of the 2021 work and have begun working on the 2022/2023 pieces. The birds are all skinned and all game-fish THU 2023 are mounted. I have begun making the parts for the sturgeon this week and should begin putting them together next week. The special order foam is also in stock. There are 11 STURGEON, including the 2023 sturgeon. As the fish dry, I will begin working on the birds (skinning & injecting the feet), order all forms & parts for them, then go back & start prepping the fish for paint. After the fish are painted, I will order the game head forms, finish the birds and proceed to start mounting the game heads. Capes are scheduled to return from the tannery in December. Replicas ORDERED THRU early 2024 ARE FINISHED - I will also be working on replicas as time allows. . Repairs & other pieces will be worked into the schedule as needed. I want to thank all my clients for being so incredibly patient as I work my way thru all these pieces. Your kindness and understanding have been truly appreciated. PLEASE NOTE - I WILL BE OPEN BY APPOINTMENT ONLY FROM THIS POINT ON. PLEASE CALL OR TEXT MY CELL TO SET UP A DATE. After April 1, 2024 now open by appointment only I HAVE PUT A HOLD ON TAKING IN WORK FROM NEW CLIENTS UNTIL I CAN REDUCE MY BACKLOG. If I have done work for you in the past, you can always bring your new trophies to me for mounting. I do allow clients to "pre-book" a spot in line, so if you have a trip to Africa or out west already booked for 2021 and beyond, you can book a spot in next years schedule now. I apologize for the completion time being longer than I expected at the time you may have brought in your mount. You can read a bit more detail regarding the reasons for the increased completion here. If at any time you wish to cancel your order, you will only be charged for any work I have already done (skinning, tanning, etc) As you can see from the list below, I have a lot of work to do and I am trying to get to it all in the most efficient way I can, but the QUALITY OF YOUR FINISHED MOUNT REMAINS MY TOP PRIORITY. I am trying to be fair to all my clients and complete work in approximately the order it came in. You will be notified when you mount is finished and ready for pick-up. As always, I thank you for your understanding and patience. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lake Winneconne Sunset |

I have tried to make the actual Work Schedule easier for me to update and hopefully - easier for you to understand. However - if you still have questions, please call or e-mail me or post on my business Facebook page. ANTLER MOUNTS, REPAIRS, TANNING, REPLICAS, ETC. ARE NOT SHOWN AS THEY ARE OFTEN COMPLETED OUT OF SEQUENCE AND IN A SHORTER TIME FRAME. If you see your name in RED - the minimum deposit amount has not been met & your mount will be skipped if you have not paid the deposit by the time I order supplies. |
You
will be called when your trophy is completed
and ready to be picked up. If I cannot
reach you by phone, I will mail a postcard or
e-mail you (if I have your e-mail address).
Mounted does NOT mean ready to pick up. There is still a lot of finish work to be done after an animal is "mounted" before it is finished and ready to be taken home. Be sure and notify me if you have a change of address or phone number. Be
sure you have paid your min. deposit of
50%. I will send only 1 notice.
If your deposit is not paid when I
am ready to order supplies, your mount
will be skipped, no exceptions.
If you have NOT paid your deposit after
6 months and I have have a price
increase - you will be charged the NEW
price.
You are responsible for bringing in your antlers and picking a pose - I cannot put your mount together without them & I don't have time to call and remind you. Due to the rising cost of processing credit card payments, I no longer accept credit cards in the shop. You will still be able to use a credit card to make deposits, make installment payments or pay your balance using PayPal, even if you don't have a PayPal account. I will also be able to send an invoice to you. The PayPal
"PAY NOW" button is located on the right side of my
homepage. http://www.simpsontaxidermy.com/homepage.html If you have any questions on how to use PayPal - please give me a call. |

2023 GAME HEADS | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Stage 1 - ROUGH
SKINNED - Birds have been skinned and the feet
injected with a plastic polymer. This takes approx. 2 -3 weeks to cure and dry before I can paint them & begin putting the actual mount together. Stage 2 - MOUNTED AND DRYING - the actual mounting of the skins with the feet in the requested poses. 8 - 10 birds per week can be mounted at this stage. DRYING - takes approx. 2 weeks for ducks & pheasants and 3 weeks for geese & turkeys. While drying, bases and habitats are created. Stage 3 - FINISHED - birds are attached to the finished bases and ready to go. GAME HEADS
Stage 1 - After
processing & salting the capes, they are
sent to the tannery - this is called "raw
salted".
Stage 2 - Mounted and Drying - Game heads are mounted in the order in which they came in. I generally mount in groups of 4 per week (less when mounting elk, caribou, moose, ) Drying takes about 2 - 3 weeks before they can be finished. I can finish a MAXIMUM of 16 heads per month. Stage 3 - Finished - Cleaned, fill work, repairs and painting completed & ready to go home. Most heads are finished after drying for 2-3 weeks from the date they are mounted. FISH
Stage 1 - ROUGH
SKINNED Fish are kept frozen whole
until we are ready to begin skinning the
entire batch. It takes about a week to
skin all the fish in a group.
Stage 2 - MOUNTED AND DRYING Once skinned, they are mounted onto the forms. Mounting the entire group can take 2 - 4 weeks depending on the number and size of the fish on the group. They are allowed to dry for 2 - 4 weeks before finishing begins. Stage 3 - PREP & PAINT The finishing process has many steps, but after drying, most fish are prepped & ready to paint within a few weeks. Fish with hangers or driftwood are finished first, then mounts with bases or habitat scenes are completed. Stage 4 - FINISHED All work is completed, the final topcoat has cured and they are on bases or hangers and ready to go |
